Tonight is the biggest and baddest battle of all monster truck racing, the IMJRA Monster Drags WORLD FINALS!!!!. 8 of the best monster trucks in the world are here and we will crown two champions tonight. Right now, sitting on top of the points going into tonights finals, the Grave Digger. Dan DeFalco had led the points every year going into the world finals, but has lost it each time, now he's in perfect position to grab his first world racing championship. Also in freestyle, Rare Breed is number 1. Robbie Milburn in the new XFA racing machine is ready to collect his first IMJRA championship, lets get down to the action. |
IMJRA MONSTER DRAGS 2003 WORLD FINALS 4!!!! |
And what a night or racing it was, we knew that this was the most competitive world finals field yet, and that racing was going to be extremely competitive, but it proved to be alot more exciting than we expected. First up is XFA_Digger in Half Breed going against Gravefan in the Python. The trucks head down thunder alley and OH!!!! Half Breed hits the wall and spins out!!!! Python is gonna get the upset first round win over Half Breed, Gravefan is off to a good start in his first world finals |

here comes our next matchup, a great chevy and ford battle. In the right lane we have the Chevy Skitso, piloted by Robby Haught, robby knows this track, he was here last year behind the wheel of Spiderman so he has the experience. In the left lane, known as the driver of Black Smith all year long, in his first world finals, Aaron Cromer is here behind the wheel of the new Pure Adrenalin ford. Both drivers are very good and they were even through thunder alley. Robby Haught makes a great turn and pulls ahead, Skitso takes the win and will move on to the semis. |

Next will be two big fords, Juan Perez in Wildfoot, taking on the defending racing winner from last year's world finals, Jon Everret in Blue Thunder. Off the start, Blue Thunder gets a jump and leads down thunder alley. Heading into the turn on no!!!!! Blue Thunder has problems in the turn, gets into a turning pole, here comes Wildfoot and Juan Perez will get the big upset win over blue thunder. Amazing job by Wildfoot and Python pulling off two MAJOR upsets in the first round. |
Next up would be #1 and #2 in racing points going against each other, Dan DeFalco in Grave Digger, and Robbie Milburn in Rare Breed. Both trucks leave the line hard but Grave Digger has the lead, Digger is smooth through the turn and will get the win. This win will clinch the 2003 racing points World Championship for Dan
semi-fnals
|
It's now time for the semi finals, winner moves on to the finals. First is Robby Haught's Skitso against Gravefan's Python. Robby has Skitso dialed in on this track as he opens up a big lead on the straightaway, Skitso is through the turn and onto a win, haught's in the finals. |
Next is Grave Digger vs. Wildfoot. Juan Perez put up a good fight but Dan finally has Digger 14 dialed into this vegas and beats wildfoot by half a truck length. Grave Digger and Skitso are head to head for the finals......
FINALS |
This should be an interesting final, both these trucks have had lane choice all night, both have run only in the right lane so far. Robby Haught had the faster time in Qualifying on friday, so he has the lane choice, sticking Dan DeFalco in a lane he has not run in qualifying or in tonights racing, this should add a little extra pressure on the Digger. He has the points championship, he wants the win, he has not been out of the semi finals before this. The trucks leave the line and roar down thunder alley dead even, Digger gets through the turn smoothly but so does skitso they are virtually dead even at the line!!!! and it's.........GRAVE DIGGER YOUR WINNER BY HALF A TIRE!!!. unbeleiveable, the most closest finsih in IMJRA World Finals history what a race. |
your world finals 4 racing winner and 2003 IMJRA Monster Drags racing World champion... Dan DeFalco and Grave Digger!!!
FREESTYLE |
We still have one more champion to crown in the freestyle division. Tonight we have one of the most extreme freestyle tracks ever, featuring a double bus jump, garbage truck stack, semi trailer stack, container jump, vans, rv's rock piles, you name it. It's gonna be a spectacular night of freestyle. |
First up is Juan Perez in team bigfoot's Wildfoot. Juan got a good launch off the single crush car on the track entrance and has a good run, not a high score however, he gets an 11. |
Python was up next, he had a couple good launches off the crush cars but nothing too strong and an early roll. Python scored a 13. |
Robby Haught brought Skitso out and had a very strong run, catching great air off the rock pile and the semi trailer, great moementum and great air, Skitso scores a 25.
Half Breed and Rare Breed made their runs, Half Breed scored a 21 and Rare Breed scored a 24 (no pics available). Robbie's run in the Rare Breed clinched his world freestyle points championship... |
congrats to the 2003 Monster Drags Freestyle world champion -- Robbie Milburn and Rare Breed!!!!!!! |
Aaron Cromer comes out with Pure Adrenalin. Aaron got good air off everything and had a strong run, Pure Adrenalin scores a 24, tied for second. |
Blue Thunder was next. Jon came out roarin' with alot of power and had massive jumps over all the obstacles, but an early flip put one of the freestyle favorite out of comission early. Blue Thunder scored a 21. |
Dan DeFalco was last up in Grave Digger 14, Dan had a good run going and then hit the bus setup from the opposite side, got great air, the truck landed on the left rear then bounced up onto the right two wheels. Dan tried to save it but couldnt, and the roll came early, Digger scored a 16.
Robby Haught in Skitso is tonight's winner in freestyle and Robbie Milburn in Rare Breed is the freestyle points champion
thanks for another great season to all monster drags competitors, congratulations goes out to Dan DeFalco and Robbie Milburn on their championships, see you next season!!! |
